Terms of Service

Effective November 6, 2026

These Terms of Service cover your use of drifterscitybike.com. They also give a plain summary of how riding works and the rules for the Local Passport membership. Drifters City Bike Share is operated by DRIFTERS Beach and Bike Rentals LLC, a Florida company. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Drifters City Bike Share, and "you" means anyone using the site or riding our bikes.

Every ride happens through the Drifters City Bike app, and you accept a rider agreement in the app before your first ride. That agreement is the contract for riding. If anything on this page conflicts with the in-app rider agreement, the in-app agreement controls.

1. Using this website

You can use this site to learn about the bike share, find stations, read our news, and sign up for email. Please do not:

  • Use the site for anything illegal.
  • Try to break, overload or get into parts of the site that are not public.
  • Copy our photos, logos, videos or text for commercial use without asking us first.

The site and its content belong to us or the people who licensed it to us. Information on the site, including station locations and prices, can change. The app always has the current details.

2. Riding happens in the app

Download the Drifters City Bike app for iPhone or Android to create an account, pay, unlock a bike, end a ride, and report a problem. The app runs on the Movatic bike-share platform. Your account, rides and payments are covered by the in-app rider agreement and the app's privacy policy.

3. Who can ride

You must be 18 or older to ride. Each ride is for one person, and you are responsible for any bike unlocked on your account.

4. How a ride works

  • Pay in the app. You cannot pay at the station.
  • The clock starts at unlock. Your ride time begins the moment the bike unlocks.
  • Return to any station. You do not have to bring the bike back where you started (a one-way ride across the Bridge of Lions is fine).
  • End the ride in the app. Tap END rental, then lock the ring lock and the cable. Your ride is not over until the app confirms it has ended.
  • Wear a helmet. Helmets are recommended for every rider.
  • Report problems in the app. If a bike is damaged, a dock will not lock, or something else goes wrong, report it in the app so we can fix it and you are not charged for our problem.

Ride safely and follow Florida traffic laws, local rules and posted signs. You are responsible for how you ride.

5. Pricing

Pay-as-you-go rides cost $5.50 for the first hour and $4.50 for each hour after that. Pedal-assist bikes cost the same as standard bikes for now.

Prices may change. If they do, the new price is shown in the app before you start a ride, and the price shown when you unlock is the one you pay for that ride.

6. Local Passport membership

The Local Passport is a membership for people who ride often. It is open to locals and visitors. Ride as much as you like during your membership, under the rules below.

Price and term

  • $99 for six months, or $180 for one year.
  • You buy your Passport in the app. The term starts the moment you buy it and ends six months or one year later.
  • If Passport prices change, the change does not affect a Passport you have already bought.

What it covers

  • Unlimited rides of up to 60 minutes each.
  • If a ride goes past 60 minutes, each additional hour is charged at the regular rate of $4.50.
  • Standard and pedal-assist bikes. If pedal-assist bikes are ever priced differently, the app will show how that affects Passport rides before you start one.

One rider

A Passport belongs to one named rider. It cannot be transferred, shared, or used to unlock a bike for someone else.

Renewal

Your Passport does not renew automatically. The app will remind you before it ends, and you can buy a new one if you want to keep riding.

Refunds

You can get a full refund within 7 days of purchase if you have not taken a ride with it. Email us at the address below to ask. After 7 days, or once you have taken a ride, the Passport is not refundable.

Suspension

We may suspend or cancel a Passport that is misused. That includes sharing it, repeatedly returning bikes late, leaving bikes unlocked or rides open, and damaging bikes. If we cancel a Passport for misuse, we do not refund the unused time.

7. Your responsibility for the bike

You are responsible for the bike from the moment it unlocks until the app confirms your ride has ended and the bike is locked at a station. During that time:

  • Keep the bike with you or locked. Do not leave it unattended and unlocked.
  • Do not lend the bike to anyone else.
  • Do not modify the bike or use it for anything it was not built for.

If a bike is damaged beyond normal wear, lost, stolen, or left with the ride still open, charges may apply to your account as set out in the in-app rider agreement.

8. Links to other sites

The site links to outside services, such as app stores, the app's privacy policy and our sponsors. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.

9. Disclaimers and limits

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it as is. We do not promise it will always be online, error free, or up to date, and we are not responsible for decisions you make based only on information here. Bike and dock availability changes through the day, so check the app before you head to a station.

To the extent Florida law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses that come from using this website. The risks of riding, and our responsibilities to riders, are covered in the in-app rider agreement.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute about them will be handled in the state or federal courts located in St. Johns County, Florida.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the bike share grows. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
